Hotel Initiatives

Green Key Gold Status

The hotel is focused on sustainability, and as a Green Key Gold certified hotel, it strives to do everything possible to limit its impact on the environment.

Beehives

Up to half a million honeybees on the roofs of the hotel. This bee’s come from the northern part of Groningen and are called “Buck fast bees. Each hive van produce up to 80kg of honey per year. This honey we use during breakfast, lunch, dinner dishes and in our cocktails

Orbisk Food Waste Monitor

Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Aiport was the first hotel to come on board at Orbisk Food Waste. All food thrown away in the kitchens is registered before it is thrown away.

The bin is set on a scale so we know what we throw away and also the weight. On this way, our chefs can analyses our food waste and can they take measures to reduce this waist of food.

Made Blue Water

The Netherlands has some of the cleanest tapwater in the world. Novotel decide to filter and carbonize our own water. We also donate money and through this enable 1000x the amount of water we sell. So far we have enabled 60 Million liters of clean drinking water in developing countries.

Ducker Carlisle Future Internal Initiatives

In an effort to expand our company's sustainability efforts, the Ducker Carlisle business unit is exploring how to reduce the carbon footprint of our business operations through the purchase of carbon offsets. Carbon offset programs can help neutralize our carbon emissions by investing in renewable energy, conservation, or carbon sequestration projects. We are exploring the many carbon offset programs available to find projects that we trust and want to support. In the fall of 2023, we began an initiative to track employee airfare mileage. Traveling by plane is our firm's largest contributor to carbon emissions, so we must first estimate our annual air travel before we can determine the required volume of carbon offsets. As sustainability becomes a higher priority for our clients, we want to do our part to support these values comprehensively in our business.
